Currency.

The Peseta is the currency of the Canary Islands.

The Coinage is 1ptas  5ptas. 10ptas. 25ptas 50ptas. 100ptas. 500ptas.

Notes are 1,000. = 4. pounds.

2,000 = 8 .pounds.

5,000 = 20. pounds.

10,0000 = 40 pounds.

25,000 = 100 pounds.

This can fluctuate and is only the average.

Banking.

Banking hours are. Monday - Friday - 08.30hrs-14.00hrs.

Outside these hours the Cambio de Change or your hotel Reception can change money there is sometimes a charge for this.

Remember to have your Passport with you if you are changing Travellers cheque or Eurocheques.

Chemists.

As a rule the opening hours are Monday - Friday 09.00 hrs-13.00hrs.then 16.00 hrs-20.00hrs.

Most are open on Saturday mornings from 09.00hrs-13.00hrs.

One Chemist in your area will be open 24hrs for Emergency's.

All will display a sign in the window giving details of where to find the Duty Chemist.

Shopping .

The general rule in the Canary Islands for shop opening times are.

Monday-Friday 09-30-13-00hrs and 16-00-20-00hrs.

Saturdays 09-30-13-30hrs.

On Sundays and Public Holidays most shops close.

Souvenir shops however stay open 7 days a week.
