Invariably
sunny this small attractive resort has an charming old fashioned
atmosphere.
The town square
is the focus and offers a good choice of places to eat out and
night life; which is low key in the extreme.
Translated
the resorts name means Fortunate Bay not because of the beach
but more probably harks back to the time when the whole of the
Canary islands where called the Fortunate Islands.
The beach
is steeply shelved into the water, with strong tidal conditions
and often a stiff breeze, ideal if you want to windsurf but not
recommended for children.
A great place
for a romantic secluded holiday or as a base for touring, car
hire is cheap and easy to arrange.
