There are two types of local bank accounts that would initially concern you in The Canary Islands.

One is for residents and the other is for non residents and this would be the first account that you will need.

You can still use your own bank, however, check that they can transfer money as required. All of the non Canarian banks advertising here, do have this facility and it may be worth opening an account with them before you leave.

If you are unfortunate enough to run out of money whilst in the Canary Islands, there are a large number of Western Union offices who can arrange IMMEDIATE transfers of money from anywhere in the world.
