Tourism on El Hierro in comparison with some other Canary islands is very low key, with a few bars, restaurants and limited accommodation. Eating out is traditional Canarian style cuisine and is mostly of meat stews, with freshly grown vegetables, excellent fresh fish, home made cheeses and very good local wine. As over 60% of the island is designated as wild life reserves the accent isn't on mass tourism, but focused on the preservation of this beautiful and unique island. Evenings are spent with good wine in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. |
